President Prabowo Subianto has concluded his official working visit to the UK, securing agreements on £4 billion investment, maritime collaboration including 1,582 locally-built fishing vessels, and higher education initiatives.

NARASINETWORK.COM - The President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, has concluded engagements during his official working visit to the United Kingdom, securing collaborative agreements that deliver direct benefit to national interests. The outcomes encompass large-scale investment commitments, collaboration in the maritime sector, and initiatives to strengthen higher education.

The Cabinet Secretary, Teddy Indra Wijaya, stated in a press briefing at London Stansted Airport on Wednesday 21st June 2026 that throughout his stay in the United Kingdom, he held a number of important meetings. These included audiences with the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Sir Keir Starmer, and His Majesty King Charles III.

Three principal agreements were reached as a result of the visit. First, the United Kingdom has committed to investment totalling £4 billion, equivalent to approximately IDR 90 trillion. Second, both nations have agreed to enhance collaboration in maritime affairs. Third, an agreement has been signed for the construction of 1,582 fishing vessels, which will be manufactured and assembled in Indonesia.

"The fishing vessels will create employment for approximately 600,000 people. Manufacturing and assembly work will be carried out in Indonesia," the Cabinet Secretary explained.

In addition to economic and maritime sectors, President Prabowo has prioritised development of human capital through collaboration in higher education. During the visit, he met with 24 professors from 24 leading institutions of higher education across the United Kingdom, including King’s College London, the University of Oxford, Imperial College London, the University of Edinburgh, and other major universities.

"Higher education collaboration will include establishment of 10 new campuses in Indonesia, with focus on medicine and STEM subjects science, technology, engineering and mathematics," the Cabinet Secretary stated.

The arrangement covers multiple provisions, including increased places for Indonesian students to study in the United Kingdom, establishment of branch campuses of British universities in Indonesia, and faculty exchange programmes. The Cabinet Secretary also noted that his meeting with the United Kingdom’s Secretary of State for Education and representatives of the Russell Group. the association of leading British universities is expected to support improvements in global rankings of Indonesian universities.

Amidst overseas engagements, he continued to oversee national strategic priorities by chairing a virtual coordination meeting with the Task Force for Forest Area Regulation. The task force was established in January 2025, two months after taking office.

"Following receipt of the task force’s report, the President has approved revocation of operating licences for companies found to have breached regulations," the Cabinet Secretary confirmed.

Concluding his remarks, the Cabinet Secretary affirmed that all overseas visits undertaken by President Prabowo are designed to deliver tangible benefit to Indonesia.

"The President ensures that all overseas engagements yield practical results and positive impact for development of Indonesia," the Cabinet Secretary concluded.
