NARASINETWORK.COM - The Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Washington, D.C. extended a warm reception to the delegation from SMA Lab School Cibubur, who are taking part in the Columbia Model United Nations Conference and Exposition (CMUNCE) 2026. The visit created an opportunity for students to meet senior diplomatic officials and gain understanding of international relations practice.
His Excellency Prof. Dr. Ir. Dwisuryo Indroyono Soesilo, Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to the United States, received the students in person. During the meeting, he led talks covering Indonesia’s work in global diplomacy, joint efforts between nations, and the responsibility of upholding national values when acting as representatives on an international platform.
The conversation showed the students’ understanding of complex issues, their capacity to examine different viewpoints, and their enthusiasm to contribute to global dialogue. The interaction demonstrated the capabilities of young people from Indonesia, who are preparing for roles as leaders in the international community.
The gathering forms part of the Indonesian Embassy in Washington, D.C.’s ongoing work to build awareness of shared responsibility across borders, develop understanding of diplomatic processes, and equip young people with skills to present Indonesia’s position clearly in international settings. Through work of this kind, the embassy aims to ensure future generations are prepared to engage with partners worldwide and advocate for Indonesia’s interests with pride and professionalism.
During the visit, students were given an overview of how the embassy operates to support Indonesia’s foreign policy objectives. They learned about practical aspects of diplomatic work, including how nations work together on matters such as trade, security, and cultural exchange. The session allowed participants to link theoretical knowledge gained through the Model United Nations programme with real-world diplomatic practice.
In addition to talks on global engagement, the Ambassador addressed the importance of maintaining reliability and honesty when representing one’s country. He highlighted that every interaction on an international stage helps shape perceptions of Indonesia, and that young representatives have an important part in building constructive relationships with peers from other nations.
The delegation from SMA Lab School Cibubur expressed gratitude for the opportunity to visit the embassy and speak directly with the Ambassador. They noted the experience had increased their understanding of Indonesia’s role in the world and strengthened their determination to represent their nation effectively at CMUNCE 2026 and in future international activities.
The embassy confirmed that supporting young people in international forums remains a key priority. Similar work will be planned to ensure more students have access to insights from diplomatic leaders and opportunities to develop their capabilities in global engagement. Through these efforts, the embassy seeks to nurture a generation of Indonesians who are well-informed, assured, and dedicated to contributing to a peaceful and collaborative international community.
